HERCULANEUM AND MOUNT VESUVIUS HIKE

A day to spend between archaeology and natural beauty

This tour is dedicated to whom are interested in visiting the ancient Herculaneum and the Volcano that caused its burial.

The thriving Roman city met its fate in 79 A. D. , when the Mount Vesuvius erupted. The ash from Mt. Vesuvius buried the entire town with many of its inhabitants.

You'll enjoy a stunning view of the Bay of Naples from a vantage point almost nobody else gets to access.

- Highlights Herculaneum: the Temple of the Augustali, the beach where more then 300 skeletons were found, the thermal baths, the forum, the house of Neptune and Amphitrite, the Samnite house, the gymnasium, the house of the Dears and much more.

-Highlights Mount Vesuvius: At the top of the volcano is a crater rim that affords a view into the crater that still fumes slightly. Besides that you will have a stunning panorama overseeing the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, the edge of the Sorrento coast and more.

Everyone has to walk up the last 500m steeply uphill. Closed-in shoes are essential.

*PLEASE NOTICE:

You can decide to book the car with the driver and a private guide for the full day or just the car with a driver and a guide for 2 hours in Pompeii. We’ll give you an excellent English speaking driver who will tell you just basic information of the Vesuvius and then you will walk to the crater on your own.

The driver will leave you in a car parking next to the ticket office, from there you can you’ll reach the crater in about 25 minutes through a steep uphill path.

Private tour means that you will not join a group but you’ll have a guide and a driver only for you.
